The Story

Two page spread of a surgical illustration for a mouse procedure. This procedure removed the disc in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) to simulate TMJ arthritis and joint degeneration. Research conducted by Dr. David Reed at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Modeling and Rendering Microforceps in Blender

To create a simplified way to show the microforceps, they were modeled and rigged in Blender. This process was recorded as a tutorial. After rendering, the output was illustrated with vectors to match the rest of the illustrations in Affinity Designer.
