PoliVIZ: Rachel Poli Medical Games and Illustrations

At the University of Illinois at Chicago’s accredited Biomedical Visualization master’s program, Rachel has built a strong foundation of techniques to develop compelling interactive visual stories to elucidate complex medical content.

By researching new methods of approaching problems and creating strategies to produce work more efficiently, Rachel aims to inspire teams to go above and beyond what is expected and produce carefully tailored medical stories.

A game developed to promote understanding and decrease stigma around antidepressants.

PLAVU: a mock advertisement for a client

This poster was developed under client specifications to advertise to medical professionals.

Simon and the Brachial Plexus

This game proposal was created with medical students in mind. It incorporates AR to train the individual on remembering and understanding the structure and functions of the many parts of the brachial plexus.

Scapula Force Couple

Developed with physical therapy students in mind, this game was produced to help the user visualize the muscles involved in shoulder rotation.

Rachel is a true believer in the power of stories to educate. While studying medical illustration and game design during her master’s program in Biomedical Visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Rachel has built a strong foundation of techniques to develop compelling interactive visual stories to illustrate and teach complex medical content. In setting high goals, creating detailed plans, and strategizing effective workflows, Rachel is able to inspire teams to create more quality from their work. This week with Studio Paradiso I opted for my trusty soft 4B and 8B pencils rather than my pink one. When trying to build up value I like to try and get to a point where I’m working with form rather than line as soon as possible.

Made some ink today! While on a walk with Lulu I noticed that my neighbors had wild grapes growing on their fence–which is perfect for purple ink. I think they are Riverbank grapes, not the fox grapes that my ink making book calls for.
